Bilitis

Founded in 2004, Bilitis is the oldest LGBTI organization in Bulgaria. Bilitis began its activity as a self-support group of lesbians and bisexual women and gradually has included trans and intersex people in its leadership. Our approach takes into account the interconnectedness between gender, race, class, sexual orientation, gender expression, ethnicity, religion, disability, and other factors, which shape the social status of the individual.

Today, Bilitis is a champion for mobilizing the LGBTI people in Bulgaria and an advocate for LGBTI rights. The mission of Bilitis is eliminating all forms of discrimination and achieving full equality for LGBTI people in Bulgaria.

For achieving its mission, Bilitis has designed the following strategic goals:

Improve the legal framework for full recognition of LGBTI rights in Bulgaria and change policies in partnership with NGOs, activists, political allies, donors, institutions and citizens.
At the grassroots level: activate, empower and involve LGBTI people, support new leaders and strengthen the LGBTI movement in Bulgaria.
At the level of wider society: disseminate the values of intersectional feminism and overcome the heteronomrative structures, incl. gender stereotypes.

ACCEPT

ACCEPT ASSOCIATION established in 1996, at a time when homosexuality was incriminated. ACCEPT is the first NGO in Romania defending and promoting the rights of LGBTI persons at national level, while it is the organizer and coordinator of Bucharest Pride since 2005, and also the main advocate for LGBTI rights in Romania. Our mission and work aims at promoting and defending, by all legal means, the persons whose fundamental rights and liberties are infringed due to their sexual orientation or gender identity. ACCEPT won numerous national and European legal battles for LGBTI equality.

At present, ACCEPT represents 22 rainbow families who sued Romania before the European Court of Human Rights, trying to obtain legal recognition and protection for their families in Romania. ACCEPT also represented in court Adrian Coman & Clai Hamilton, the first same-sex couple who asked the Romanian institutions to recognize their marriage. The case was debated before the Court of Justice of the European Union. The decision states same-sex spouses should have their marriage recognized while exercising their freedom of movement, for the purpose of obtaining residency in any EU Member State and all derived rights.

Colour Youth

Colour Youth was founded as an Organization in 2012, aiming to provide a safe space for LGBTQI+ youth to better express themselves and assert their rights. Colour Youth’s main objectives include the formulation of an active LGBTQI+ Youth community, the support and empowerment of LGBTQI+ youth, raising awareness regarding issues that affect LGBTQI+ youth and advocating for its rights. Colour Youth is a member of the (Greek) Racist Violence Recording Network and one of its representatives in the (Greek) National Council Against Racism and Intolerance, as well as a member of the international organizations ILGA-Europe, Transgender Europe and IGLYO.

LGL

The National lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) human rights organization LGL is the only non-governmental organization in Lithuania exclusively dedicated to representing the interests of the local LGBT community. Having begun operations on December 3rd, 1993, LGL is one of the most mature and stable organizations in the country‘s civil sector. The fundamental principle behind the organization‘s activities is independence from any political or financial interests whilst striving for effective inclusion and social integration of the LGBT community in Lithuania. LGL seeks to achieve consistent LGBT human rights progress, drawing on its twenty years of experience in advocacy, awareness-raising and community building.

Our team is enthusiastic, dynamic, ever-changing and open to new members, ideas and projects. It is important to emphasize that not only gay individuals are involved in the organization – in addition to the LGBT community, we are proud of our friends and allies who consider LGBT rights part of the issue of democratic and effective protection of human rights for all citizens of the Republic of Lithuania without exception.

KMOP – Social Action and Innovation Centre

KMOP – Social Action and Innovation Centre, situated in Athens, is one of the oldest NGOs in Greece, with more than 40 years of experience in supporting vulnerable groups. Alongside with direct provision of Social services (mental health, trafficking, employment/poverty, bullying), its expertise pertains to design and implementation of impactful & innovative social initiatives in the areas of Education, Human Rights, Employment, Care & Wellbeing and to Scientific research and development of know-how in social policy issues, aiming at building resilient communities with equal opportunities for all. Our vision is a world that rests on integrity, sustainable growth and individual well-being.

In Choice, KMOP is the Coordinator and has the whole responsibility for the effective implementation of the activities. Furthermore, KMOP is responsible for the dissemination strategy and the social media campaign.
